TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — Seven persons who attended a burial and a birthday party in Luna, Isabela tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 yesterday.
Mayor Jaime Atayde said three of the patients, all residents of Cabatuan town, attended the burial in Barangay Harana on Aug. 14.
The same household hosted a birthday party on Aug. 28 that left three of the guests infected.
Atayde said a city hall employee in Cauayan, who attended both occasions, was also infected. Twelve other employees who were exposed to the patient tested positive for the virus, prompting Mayor Bernard Dy to lockdown the city hall.
In Camarines Sur, the Naga City municipal government issued quarantine protocols during the weeklong celebration of the Peñafrancia Festival, which started yesterday.
There will be no fluvial procession and traslacion, but returning residents and visitors should present a valid travel authority and a medical certificate from their place of origin aside from a letter of acceptance issued by the Naga City government, according to a memorandum order issued by Mayor Nelson Legacion.
Parishes will hold novena masses subject to minimum health protocols. Devotees are encouraged to stay in their homes as the masses will be live streamed in their areas.
