BAY CITY, MI — John and Autumn Filburn’s 5-2-oh food truck is bringing Asian fusion street food to Bay City.
Korean tacos filled with shredded, marinated pork and topped with fresh kimchi, shrimp tacos filled with popcorn shrimp tossed in a sweet chili sauce and topped with cilantro lime slaw, Korean-style chicken wings, and specialty burgers are just a few things hungry customers will find on their ever-changing menu.
Especially popular is the “Godzilla Hotdog,” a bacon-wrapped Koegel topped with Korean pork, kimchi and sriracha aioli, for $7. Chef John Filburn describes it as “this crazy hotdog that Bay City loves.”
Another customer favorite is the jalapeno bacon popper burger, an all-beef patty with jalapeno cream cheese spread, American cheese and bacon on a brioche bun, for $10.
“That goes out the window, too,” he said of the popular special.
All menu items range in price from about $7 to $12.
John Filburn, originally of Arizona, has more than 15 years of experience as a chef and previously worked at country clubs and casinos. His wife is originally from Auburn, Michigan. They opened for business in June 2018 and traveled the state of Michigan until the COVID-19 pandemic hit. They’ve spent the last several months serving customers in Bay City, where they live.
The business name, 5-2-oh, is a nod to their Arizona area code.
“It’s that West Coast food and vibe that we’re bringing from Arizona to Michigan,” John Filburn said.
The menu has several staple items plus specials that change frequently.
“We like to do stuff that’s kind of fun, not normal, so our menu’s always something different,” he said.
Menu specials, hours and location change all the time, so find 5-2-oh on Facebook for the latest details.
