Hilde Lee: Pandemic armchair travels continue with Greece’s contributions to world cuisine | Food & Cooking

Adella Miesner

However, Greece is surrounded on three sides by water and many islands. What could be more enchanting than eating a midday meal on an island in the Aegean surrounded by shimmering water and beautiful scenery?

Boats with red and white sails are unloading the morning’s catch of crawfish, mullet, and octopus. Market stalls neat the water sell scarlet tomatoes green peppers, wine-dark eggplants and beautifully scented lemons. All a preview of an excellent meal.

Greek food is still traditional, with many of the dishes being centuries old. Greek cooking goes back 500 years before the birth of Christ. One of the first cookbooks stems from about that time.

Adella Miesner

No-Cook Cooking cooks know they can enjoy salads tailored to every abundant day of the year.

If romaine was your go-to bed of choice for summer salads, try adding some spinach and kale; tucking a few mustard greens among the kale leaves begs

That’s when Zakarian—a Food Network personality, “Chopped” judge and co-host of the network’s show “The Kitchen”—joins his daughters Madeline and Anna to show all of us beginner cooks how it’s done along during a virtual cooking demonstration this weekend hosted by Oxford Exchange. The demo highlights the family’s upcoming cookbook “The Family that Cooks Together.”

The Zakarians will let attendees in on a few secrets like what it’s like growing up with a famous dad, plus cooking tips and tricks they’ve learned along the way. Easy-to-follow instructions for the young girls ensure everyone can master the various desserts and savory breakfasts.
