Among the many cascading travesties that have defined the year 2020, Taco Bell’s inexplicable culling of many of its most popular items from its menu rates up there at — well, not very high actually, but it is still a solid and unnecessary kick in the balls during an already awful year.

The news broke back in July that America’s favorite house of varying amalgamations of cheese, meat, sour cream, beans and tortilla would be removing some of the more novel forms those five ingredients take from its menu “in an effort to streamline operations,” while eliminating all of its potato options outright.

Snapshots Of a Delhi Frozen Into Stillness and Quiet

Adella Miesner

Quiet burials, an eerily empty Raisina Road, a shutters down Khan Market and a migrant worker staring wordlessly out of the page snapshots of a Delhi frozen into stillness during the lockdown are documented for posterity in a new coffee table book. When India went indoors in March to curtail the spread of COVID-19, photographer Parul Sharma stepped outside to capture frame by frame the unprecedented weeks and months of silence in the national capital.

The result is the lavishly laid out “Dialects of Silence: Delhi Under Lockdown” published recently by Roli. Sharma remembers the day she ventured out with her camera. It was April 3, barely 10 days after India went into lockdown on March 25. She knew what was unfolding before her was a story of a lifetime and so hit the streets with her camera in hand.

“When the lockdown was declared on March 23, no one

Iran’s central bank chief announces deal to unlock Iranian funds frozen in Iraqi banks to buy humanitarian goods.

Tehran, Iran – Iran’s central bank chief on Monday announced an agreement has been reached with Iraqi officials to unlock Iranian funds frozen in Iraqi banks as part of United States sanctions to buy humanitarian goods.

The announcement follows in the wake of Washington’s decision last week to blacklist Iran’s entire financial sector – a move critics contend will further hamper Tehran’s ability to buy vital food and medicines as it battles the worst COVID-19 crisis in the Middle East.

CBI governor Abdolnasser Hemmati led an Iranian banking and business delegation to Baghdad on Monday and met with the Iraqi central bank chief, finance minister and prime minister.

“During these negotiations, especially in trilateral talks with the heads of the central bank and the Trade Bank of Iraq, we reached good agreements

Many of us are cooking more these days, but even the best home chef needs a break now and then. If takeout isn’t your thing or you’re in a hurry and need something fast, Consumer Reports says look no further than your freezer for revamped tasty and nutritious frozen meals.

When it comes to frozen meals, consumers want healthy, less processed ingredients, and manufacturers are delivering bolder flavors plus different cuisines.

Consumer Reports checked out 30 frozen meals that you would find in your supermarket. What’s in them, and how much of the nutritional good stuff are you actually getting?

CR testers first picked apart the meals, weighing healthful ingredients such as vegetables, whole grains and beans.

Although portion sizes could be small, most had 1 to 1/2 cups of these ingredients.

The high-scoring frozen meals were not only tasty but also had mostly whole-food ingredients and they were lower

Avoid nations hit hard by COVID-19: Beijing to frozen food importers

The announcement comes after several cases of seafood products testing positive for coronavirus.

India’s COVID-19 surges past 6.39 million, death toll crosses one lakh

China recently suspended imports from seafood producers in Brazil, Indonesia and Russia for a week or more.

Chinese customs and local governments have repeatedly detected traces of the pathogen in imported cold-chain foods at a time when foreign food companies continued to report new infections, Beijing’s commerce bureau said on its website. That proves that imported frozen foods are at risk of contamination, it added.

Guess who’s coming to West Avenue?

Pizza Bar, which opened its first location next to the Loews Miami Beach and Ritz Carlton South Beach in 2009, has opened a new location, right next to Bodega Taqueria y Tequila.

The menu at the new spot, which boasts a rustic but modern vibe, isn’t exactly the same as the menu at the Collins Avenue restaurant, which says it sells the biggest slice on South Beach.

At the new restaurant, it’s not so much about the slices. You can order the 30-inch pizzas with your favorite toppings or try a special pizza like the Proscuitto, with garlic sauce, mozzarella, truffle oil, Proscuitto, arugula, grated Parmesan and basil.

But you won’t get bored, because there are new items, too, including a Sicilian pie that’s only for sale on Fridays. The restaurant will also serve cauliflower-crusted pizzas, new appetizers and salads and specialty drinks

The Surprising Healthy Food That’s Often Better To Buy Frozen, According to an RD

Adella Miesner

For many people, these *checks notes* unprecedented times have changed the way we eat and even buy groceries. Beyond stockpiling canned beans and TP, my freezer is now filled with things like frozen berries, zucchini noodles, spinach, and cauliflower gnocchi—anything that requires the bare minimum of effort from me to turn it into a healthy meal now that I’m cooking practically all of my meals myself. But one of the freezer aisle foods I’ve been overlooking? Frozen seafood.

In general, frozen food has a bit of a bad reputation that’s not deserved, registered dietitian Tracy Lockwood Beckerman, RD, says in an episode of Well+Good’s YouTube series You Versus Food. “The actual act of freezing foods does not make foods healthy or unhealthy,” Beckerman says. Essentially, freezing just acts as a “pause button” that extends the lifespan of the food (and the vitamins and nutrients it contains), she says. This
