ROCKFORD — The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau launched a new marketing campaign Tuesday in support of local bars and restaurants.
“To-Go Tuesdays” is an 11-week push to encourage residents to spend at local bars and restaurants by using various to-go order methods. The goal is to help sustain businesses as temperatures drop and indoor dining is prohibited under new state restrictions put in place because of rising coronavirus test positivity rates.
Each week of the campaign, a small business from a different municipality within Winnebago County will be highlighted on GoRockford’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. This week, Salamone’s Cherry Valley was featured.
Joshua Binning, owner of Lucha Cantina, says he’s aware of the community’s power to sustain local businesses and is hopeful that the community can unify in keeping businesses open.
“Local restaurants are natural gathering places for the community and with community support we’ll all be here when this chapter is over and we’re on to the next,” Binning said in a news release.
The marketing efforts will include offering residents and visitors the chance to win a $25 gift card to a local bar or restaurant. In order to win, participants must share a photo of their recent to-go order from a local restaurant via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram including the hashtags #ToGoRockford and #GoRockford. The winner will be announced on all social media channels every Friday over the span of the campaign.
The bureau is continually updating its website with the latest outdoor dining spots and to-go options. It also encourages Winnebago County-based local restaurants that are interested in being a part of the campaign to reach out via email at [email protected]
