Rocky Mountain Eye Center will host a virtual opening and ribbon-cutting this week for its newest office in Walsenburg, expanding the center’s footprint to 12 offices statewide.
The event will be livestreamed at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the Rocky Mountain Eye Center Facebook page. The stream also will be carried on the Facebook pages of the Latino Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and the Pueblo West Chamber of Commerce.
RMEC recently bought Valley EyeCare of Walsenburg and moved the business from its Main Street location to a newly remodeled building at 601 S. Albert Ave., according to Scott Wilson, executive director of Rocky Mountain Eye Center.
Tuesday’s event will offer a virtual tour of the recently remodeled facilities and expanded eyewear selection, including designer brands like Ray-Ban, Calvin Klein, Kate Spade and Vera Bradley.
The center hopes to extend the local hospitality and professionalism of Valley EyeCare which opened in Walsenburg in May 2017, while offering expanded surgical and specialty eye services offered by Rocky Mountain Eye Center.
Leading the RMEC Walsenburg team is Dr. Anna Clark, who grew up in Pueblo and graduated from Centennial High School. Clark, who previously worked as the vision provider for Valley EyeCare, will serve as the primary eye care provider for the local office.
Clark said she is passionate about making sure that every person who needs access to eye care receives it, especially children. Having done free vision screenings in both the Walsenburg and Gardner schools, Clark said she recognizes a need for eye care in the area and is pleased to have joined an eye care network that can help bring even more specialty services to Walsenburg area residents.
“The advantages of living in rural America, especially in times like these are numerous,” said Clark. “Access to high quality vision providers and equipment, ensures citizens’ eye health remains strong helping each person see life at their highest potential.”
The new office can provide care for patients of all ages and serves as a specialty center for surgical patients to receive routine eye care in between surgical follow-ups. For those with standard eye care needs, most if not all, routine vision care is available locally.
“Rocky Mountain Eye Center is a unique vision solutions center and we are proud to add Walsenburg residents to the communities we care for,” said Wilson. “Our vast medical network of specialty trained optometrists and ophthalmologists can treat those in need of specialty contact lenses or routine glasses to complicated eye diseases and even eye plastic surgery where needed.”
Rocky Mountain Eye Center physicians assist with eye care treatment and diseases such as diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration along with other common or unique eye conditions. Cataracts, LASIK, pediatric optometry and oculoplastic conditions are among the many regional specialties offered within the Rocky Mountain Eye Center network.
“Being able to offer complete eye care services for whole families is a blessing for both the physician and the patient,” said Wilson. “Continuity of care from provider to provider, the physician’s ability to consult with varied medical teams and the strength of state-of-the-art equipment and support, combine to help RMEC offer metropolitan-type services in the rural atmosphere Colorado communities favor.”
The center is taking in-person appointments and accepting new patients while operating under COVID protocols to protect patients and staff. For more information, call 719-738-3937 or visit RockyMountainEyeCenter.com
